Tigers
Tigers: we are feeding
Tiger fighting have become quite rare these days. Reason being that they possess new base medicinal and magical properties for which they are killed.
Efforts are continuously made to preserve these magnificant predators from extinction.
Just over a century ago, 100,000 wild tigers roamed across Asia. Today, fewer than 3,900 live in a mere four per cent of their historic range.
Why are tigers going extinct?
Tigers have lost an estimated 95% of their historical range. Their habitat has been destroyed, degraded, and fragmented by human activities. The clearing of forests for agriculture and timber, as well as the building of road networks and other development activities, pose serious threats to tiger habitats.
What happens if tigers disappear?
If the tigers go extinct, the entire system would collapse.
So, when a species goes extinct, it leaves behind a scar, which affects the entire ecosystem. Another reason why we need to save the tiger is that our forests are water catchment areas.
How can we save tigers in India?
1.Protect tigers and their habitat.
2.Build capacity in range states.
3.Reduce human-tiger conflict.
4.Conduct scientific research on tigers to help inform conservation strategies.
