Powerful Tsunami waves struck the Pacific coast of the hookah in North eastern horn shoe Japan on 11 March 2011 they were triggered by an under sea earthquake with the magnitude of 9.0 on the richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was about 70 KM east of oshika peninsula of it was one of the most powerful earthquakes to have hit Japan in recent times.



Effects of Tohoku Tsunami 

The tsunami caused wide spread destruction in North East Japan with the prefectors of event and fukushima being the worst head the water search was unexpectedly large with the waves reaching about 40 m in height and travelling up at distance of almost 10 km inland. There were more than 15000 casualties. Entire towns were destroyed and many ports were damaged in the tsunami hit areas. Apart from several structural damage transport and telecommunication network what is stupid and sandai airport was completely flood the tsunami also called a number of nuclear accident and melt down at 3 reactors in the fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
